ACADEMIC STRUCTURE
Pre-School:
The Pre-School consists of one toddler class and two pre-school classes. In the pre-school we concentrate on teaching using the Montessori method. Thus multi-age mix is used within the two pre-school classes - this means that the ages in each class are from 3-6 years which allows for both individual and social development. The Montessori philosophy is more easily understood by the following line: "Children learn by a process of discovery rather than being taught by rote".
Primary School:
The Primary School consists of one class of 20 learners per grade. The academic structure of Greenwood is based on the National Curriculum, supplied by the Government Education System. From Grade 1 – Grade 7 Greenwood integrates mainstream methods, while still ensuring that the teaching is guided by the child-focused philosophy of the Montessori method.
